The singer/songwriter/producer Mike Viola is the guest on this, the first episode of 2019. Mike has made about a dozen studio albums and countless EPs & live albums, as a solo act or with his band Candy Butchers. He’s also collaborated or produced myriad albums with a diverse of musicians including Mandy Moore, Ryan Adams, Panic! at the Disco, Matt Nathanson and Jenny Lewis (just to name a few). In addition to all that, Mike has also written —or co-written— for the screen including “That Thing You Do”, “Walk Hard” and “Get Him To The Greek”. Mike was in NYC for a gig at Joe’s Pub when we recorded this conversation. At the end of the segment Mike performed Collins, a track off his new album “The American Egypt”. The album is available for streaming and download off all major music platforms, as well as on vinyl.
