Peter Bogdanovich is a busy guy this month. He was in NYC for two entirely different film projects. One was the theatrical premiere of his new documentary, “The Great Buster: A Celebration” the result of prodding by film cultivator and distributor Charles Cohen. That film will have its theatrical run at NYC’s Quad Cinema beginning Friday, October 5th. The Quad has also been running a retrospective of Peter’s work this past week which is continuing as this conversation was published. If that weren’t enough, the Quad will also be presenting a retrospective of the best of Buster Keaton’s films from October 5th through the 11th. Visit quadcinema.com for details, tickets, etc. about all the above.

That’s one project! The other is the completion and presentation of Orson Welles‘ last movie, “The Other Side of the Wind.” The film had been languishing unfinished for years for both financial and legal reasons. Finally, Netflix put up the money to get it all worked out and to have Producers Peter, Frank Marshall and Filip Jan Rymsza oversee the edited and finalizing of the film. That film had its New York premiere at this year’s New York Film Festival. In fact, the second screening has yet to take place. It will screen at Alice Tully Hall on Wednesday, October 10th at 3PM. If you can’t make it, don’t fret. The film will have a theatrical in New York and Los Angeles, and premiere on the streaming service, all on November 2nd of this year. Not only is Peter Bogdanovich a co-producer on “The Other Side of the Wind”, but he acted in it when they shot it back in the 1970’s.
